About The Featured Artists
Arnaud Barraud
Arnaud Barraud (1943-) born in New Zealand. He studied Architecture for a time in the early 1960’s, then spent a few years as a painter and sculptor, living in Mexico, in 1970. In 1976, he migrated to Sydney, then moved to Melbourne in 1980, where he still lives and works, specialising in affordable, functional and decorative stoneware. He is a member of the Dandenong Ranges Ceramic Group. Work is marked with an impressed ‘AB’. (Australian Pottery at Bemboka)
Andrew Gibson
Andrew Gibson (1962-) was born in Melbourne and trained in the early 80’s at Chilsholm Institute of Technology, obtaining an Associate Diploma in Fine Arts, majoring in Ceramic Design. In 1984, he began working with Jan Lewis, at Table Top Ceramics and became production manager, in 1988, he set up his own pottery studio and started making exhibition pieces, experimenting with the use of lustres by mixing different methods of application, and multi firings of the works. He is known for his simple, elegant forms, ranging in size from miniatures to large exhibition pieces. In 1996, he introduced a range of celadon glazed works. His works are marked in gold lustre ;Gibson’. (Australian Pottery at Bemboka)
Eric Juckert
Eric Juckert (1918-2004), started potting with Una Deerborn at her studio in Melbourne, Victoria, in 1936, he them set up his own business at his parent’s house in Balaclava, making a range of pottery sold by Myers and David Jones under the name of Jacqueline. In 1949, he moved to nearby Caulfield and in 1954, to Riddell near Gisbourne, north of Melbourne. He went to England for a time, then in 1959 set up a studio on Phillip Island south of Melbourne and continued working there until 1992. These dates are from the Rameking and differ from the dates in Geoff Ford’s Encyclopedia of Australian Potter’s Marks. Works are signed ‘Eric Juckert’. (Australian Pottery at Bemboka)
